The MKhAT Museum was established in 1923 and was originally located in the MKhAT building on Khudozhestvenny Theatre Lane. In 1947 the museum was provided with a separate premises at House No. 3a. The museum's collections consist of more than 330,000 items. It collects, preserves, studies and promotes materials and documents related to the history and contemporary life of MKhAT and its figures. The museum holds unique collections of documentary archives, stage costumes and models, theatrical painting, graphics and sculpture, memorial items and theatrical relics. The museum offers themed tours, lectures and interactive programs for children and adults. More than 35 exhibitions are held annually. At the K. S. Stanislavsky House-Museum there are meetings with actors, musical evenings, and a theatrical lecture series. The theatre 'The Story of an Exhibit' also operates there. The MKhAT Museum is not only a cultural center, but also a place to learn about the history and heritage of the Moscow Art Academic Theatre.
