About museum
On May 8, 2008 the opening of the museum was officially announced, and on June 1, 2010 exhibition halls were opened in the former Church of the Resurrection in the urban-type settlement of Pavlovka. The church was built in 1827 by order of Prince V. Obolensky in honor of the 1812 Victory. In 1936 the building was converted into a House of Culture; however, in July 2017 the administration of Pavlovsky District decided to return the building to the Church. The museum's collection includes more than 3,000 exhibits, and about 2,000 visitors come each year. The museum displays collections of pottery, archaeological finds and other items related to the history of the Pavlovsky area. Visitors' special attention is drawn to the exhibitions "Interior of a Village House", "The Spiritual Life of the Region", "Front. Rear. Memory", "Development of the Region", as well as paintings by local artists presented in the "Picturesque Pavlovka" exhibition. Since 2018 the museum has been a member of the Union of Museums of the Volga Federal District.
