A. A. Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum is an indisputable example of Russian culture. Founded in the mid-1890s by Aleksey Aleksandrovich Bakhrushin, a private collector and patron from Moscow, the museum today houses more than one and a half million items. Its collections include costume and set design sketches, photographs and portraits, stage costumes worn by actors, programs and playbills, rare publications on theatrical art, and decorative and applied arts. The museum features works by such great masters as Bakst, Golovin, Kustodiev, Dobuzhinsky, Korovin, Yuon, Roerich, Tatlin, Exter, Rodchenko, Popova, and others. Various exhibitions are held in the museum's main building and its branches. The museum welcomes all theatre lovers - it offers tours, lectures on theatre history, meetings with well-known artists, and creative evenings.
