Chaplygin Doll House
About museum
A cozy and welcoming museum, the “Doll House,” is located in the town of Chaplygin not far from the center. It was opened on July 25, 2015, in an old merchant mansion where the famous Russian geographer and statistician N. P. Nikitin was born and raised. The museum features permanent and temporary exhibitions, including galleries by individual authors, a theatrical hall, and traditional rooms. There is also an exhibition dedicated to the Soviet period where all the dolls may be touched. The theatrical hall hosts performances, master classes, engaging programs, and demonstration workshops on doll making. The museum director herself makes polymer dolls. At the museum you can not only look but also purchase souvenir products. The “Doll House” museum is the brightest building in the town of Chaplygin and is easy to recognize.
