Novopokrovsky Historical and Literary Museum named after A.A. Perventsev
About museum
The museum in the Novopokrovskaya stanitsa is located in the building where, from 1905 to 1913, the Soviet writer Arkady Alexeyevich Perventsev lived. The house belonged to his grandfather — a participant in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878. It historically became a center for the intelligentsia to gather. In 1903 Vladimir Mayakovsky visited the Afanasyev family. Other notable visitors included Khizhnya, Generals Erdeli, Ulagay, Romanovsky and Pokrovsky, as well as Kuban writers Kronid Oboyshchikov, Sergey Khokhlov, Ivan Varavva, Viktor Likhonosov and Vitaly Bakaldin. The museum holds documents about Alexander Suvorov's role in strengthening Russia's border, as well as unique exhibits: an amphora from Greece, spinning wheels, chains, barn locks, an antique mirror, irons, well-worn bast shoes (lapti) and a Tula samovar dated 1870. All exhibits are over 150 years old.
