Penza Literary Museum
About museum
In 1975, an Association of State Literary and Memorial Museums was organized in the Penza Region, becoming the first association of museums with a literary profile in Russia. In 1989 the Literary Museum—the main museum of the association—was opened. Over the years a unified collection of holdings has been assembled, containing materials from the early 18th century to the present. The museum is located in the building of the former Main People's School, an architectural monument of the late 18th–early 19th centuries. Among the items of the literary exhibition "Penza Land — to Russian Literature" you can find lifetime editions and autographs of writers, memorial items, manuscripts of works, the gymnasium's library and original visual materials. The museum cooperates with unions of writers, artists and musicians, and also holds various events in its exhibition halls and literary salon, equipped with modern technical facilities.
