A. I. Herzen House-Museum (branch of the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V. I. Dal)
About museum
In the 1820s, in the Arbat and Prechistenka area, I. A. Yakovlev acquired an Empire-style mansion with a mezzanine that had been built specifically for his son Alexander Herzen. In 1968, at the initiative of the Moscow Soviet, the A. I. Herzen Museum was established, consisting of the old house with the exhibition "Herzen in Russia" and a modern annex with the exhibition hall "Herzen in the West." In 2012, after a complete restoration, Herzen's House was reopened and hosted an exhibition of rarities from the Herzen collection of the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V. I. Dal. The museum retained its authentic appearance following the 1892 reconstruction and the restoration of interiors, walls, and other elements.
