About museum
In 1993 the Nogai Local History Museum was opened as a branch of the A. Taho-Godi National Museum of Dagestan. Its collections include over 1,800 exhibits that allow visitors to become acquainted with the ancient history of the Nogai people and their unique culture, which has become part of the all-Russian cultural heritage. The museum houses more than 200 works of art, as well as works by Srazhdin Batyrov, an expert in Nogai folklore who carried out extensive work to revive ancient Nogai dances and songs and to collect musical instruments. The exhibition features the paintings 'From Childhood', 'Bride', 'Towards Evening', 'In the Rain', 'Nariman', 'Youth' and others, as well as a stuffed specimen of the plembaranchik of the Grozny breed (Nogai subspecies), bred at the famous breeding farm 'Chervlennye Buruny'. The ethnographic section of the museum presents antique Nogai household items, costume ensembles, silver women's jewelry, tools, weapons and musical instruments.
