\r\nA. M. Gorky's apartment is located in one of the most beautiful mansions, which was built by the famous architect F. O. Shekhtel. The writer spent the last years of his life there, working on the epic novel "The Life of Klim Samgin." In 1965 the former Ryabushinsky mansion was granted to the writer and his family by the Government of the USSR and was given museum status. Here A. M. Gorky's extensive library and most household items have been preserved in their original condition. Museum staff carefully recreated the apartment's 1930s interior, from the time when Maxim Gorky still lived here. The museum is a place of remembrance and an example of historical culture. It is intended to help people learn about and understand the history and past of Russian culture.
