Slobodoturinsky District Historical and Local History Museum
About museum
For 30 years the district historical and local history museum has existed in the village of Turinskaya Sloboda. Its founder was local historian, World War II veteran and history teacher M.D. Eliseev. The museum is located in an old mansion from the mid-19th century, in the house where the merchant E.G. Rudnev lived. Over the years the museum's collections have accumulated more than 12,000 items. These items preserve the history of the Slobodoturinsky land, telling about interesting and memorable dates. The museum's exhibition consists of four sections: nature, archaeology, ethnography, and history. In addition, new exhibitions open annually: exhibitions from private collections, exhibitions dedicated to dates in Russian and local history, and travelling exhibitions. The museum's main visitors are children. For work with them, a cultural-educational program "Museum and Children" has been developed. This program covers a long time period and includes a wide range of topics. It tells about the wonderful world of the museum, immersing children in the everyday life of Russian peasants and in folk culture. Original museum items assist in all of this.
