Spas-Klepiki Second-Class Teachers' School
About museum
Spas-Klepiki is a town 80 km from Ryazan. At the beginning of the 20th century it was a large trading village. In 1896 an educational institution was opened to train teachers of basic literacy. The Spas-Klepiki Second-Class Teachers' School was under the ecclesiastical administration. In 1985 the building of this school, having become a branch of the State Museum-Reserve of S. A. Yesenin, was opened to visitors. In 2005, in honor of the 110th anniversary of S. A. Yesenin's birth, a new exhibition was opened describing the everyday life of Klepiki residents at the end of the 19th–beginning of the 20th century and Sergei Yesenin's studies at this school in 1909–1912. On the first floor you can see the kitchen, the teachers' apartments, tools, and the clothing of Klepiki residents. On the second floor are the classrooms and the dormitory for male students. In addition, you can see the apartment of Sergei Yesenin's friend Grigory Panfilov, which was visited by the school's pupils. Sergei Yesenin spent most of his time in Spas-Klepiki, so here one can learn about his life and work.
