About museum
On May 24, 2007, the Book Museum was opened in the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library. The basis for the exhibitions was a rich and unique collection comprising more than 50,000 items, including 600 manuscript books, early printed editions from the 15th century, books in Cyrillic type, and others. The museum's mission is to show the importance of the book to society over many centuries, to provide visitors with informative materials about the spiritual and material essence of the book, and to attract people to book culture. Exhibition themes change twice a year: anniversaries of books, publishers, Russian book printing, etc. More than 2,000 visitors come to the museum annually. The museum conducts extensive educational work among the city's and region's student youth, organizing informative lessons and master classes.
