The Ostrogozhsk Historical and Art Museum was founded in 1907 under the name I. N. Kramskoy Art Gallery. It combines two main profiles: art and local history. The museum's permanent exhibition features Scythian cultural artifacts, household utensils, the weapons of the first settlers of Ostrogozhsk, peasant clothing and jewelry, Russian porcelain, bronze, antique furniture, miniatures, posters, a numismatic collection, drawings by I. N. Kramskoy and his pupils, photographs and letters. The Russian painting hall displays famous names: Kramskoy, Kuindzhi, Polenov, Yaroshenko, Repin, Makovsky, Aivazovsky, Volkov, Shishkin, Korzukhin and others. The museum has 4 exhibition halls. After the tour, visitors can climb the fire tower to see the historic center of the town with 19th-century architectural monuments. Since 1987, the Memorial House-Museum of I. N. Kramskoy, which is a branch of the museum, has also been in operation.
