About museum
On October 5, 2007, the Izhevsk City Sports History Center was opened under the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Izhevsk City Administration. The project was undertaken by Tatyana Penzina, Sergey Protozanov and Valery Dokuchaev. Today the Center is headed by Darya Nuzhdina. The museum features about 3,000 exhibits, including photographs, medals, cups, sporting equipment, as well as interactive exhibits: a racing car, an ice-speedway motorcycle, a motorcycle with a sidecar, a bicycle and chess. Since its opening the museum has been visited by more than 25,000 people, including residents of Izhevsk, preschool children, schoolchildren, students, veterans, professional athletes and enthusiasts from Russia and other countries. All visitors leave positive feedback about the museum, highly appreciating the interesting information presented in the thematic exhibitions, as well as the museum's role in promoting physical culture and sport and preserving the history of the city's sporting achievements.
