Yurginsky Municipal District Local History Museum
About museum
On November 30, 1981, the district committee of the CPSU and the executive committee of the district council of people's deputies decided to establish a historical and local history museum in the Yurginsky district. On the opening day it had 1,000 exhibits, and by January 1, 2020 their number had grown to 20,630. Beginning with the archaeology section, visitors can see ancient artifacts, cultural monuments of global significance, and visit a reconstruction of a late 19th-century Siberian peasant's izba. The Kuzbass History Department presents the key moments of the region's history, and in the district's fauna and flora section visitors can take photos with taxidermied animals. The Hall of Remembrance presents the history of the revolutionary movement in the district, the collective farm movement, repressions, the Great Patriotic War, and local conflicts. The exhibition hall changes its displays monthly, including solo and thematic exhibitions, applied art items, and sales of works by craftsmen from the Yurginsky district.
