M. N. Tolstoy Memorial House in the village of Maloye Pirogovo
About museum
Maloye Pirogovo is the Tolstoy family estate, which was purchased in 1837 by Nikolai Ilyich. Ten years later his younger sister Maria Nikolaevna inherited it. Here Lev Nikolaevich created many famous works. In 1999 the estate became a branch of the Yasnaya Polyana museum-estate. During restoration, historical interiors were recreated and new memorial objects were added. The site hosts tours, celebrations, competitions, festivals, master classes, and camps. In 2017 Avdotya Smirnova's film "The Story of One Appointment" was shot here. Students and teachers from the Tula College of Arts named after A. S. Dargomyzhsky visit Maloye Pirogovo. The famous Tolstoy family lived and worked here, and today Maloye Pirogovo welcomes guests as a museum presenting their history.
