At the A. N. Radishchev Museum a museum program “Temple-Builder Schema-Monk Herman” took place, during which participants learned about the life and activities of Grigory Ablyazov.\r\n\r\nThe Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord is a unique monument of 18th-century architecture and painting; this magnificent church is closely associated with the name of A. N. Radishchev’s great-grandfather — Grigory Afanasyevich Ablyazov. During the museum program visitors learned that Grigory Ablyazov was known as a generous man, a true guardian of Orthodoxy, a builder of magnificent churches and a benefactor of monasteries. On the lands of the Penza region he founded at least three villages: Preobrazhenskoye (also known as Verkhneye Ablyazovo); Rozhdestvenskoye (also known as Nizhneye Ablyazovo); Nikolskoye (also known as Gusinaya Lapa) — and a church was built in each of them.\r\n\r\nMuseum staff spoke about the significance of the Zhadovskaya Hermitage in Grigory Ablyazov’s life. Participants of the event were interested to learn that in 1739, having invested his own funds, Grigory Ablyazov began the construction of a new stone church in the Zhadovskaya Hermitage in honor of the Kazan Mother of God. His desire to dedicate himself to serving God and to prayer inspired him to take monastic tonsure in the spring of 1741 under the name Herman. Monk Herman reverently fulfilled his vow, and his creation — a wondrous temple of God — became the pride of the Zhadovskaya Hermitage. With the help of photographs, museum visitors were able to be transported to the 18th century, immerse themselves in the atmosphere of that time, and become acquainted with the churches that Grigory Ablyazov had erected during his lifetime.\r\n\r\nBy preserving and passing on the knowledge of the past, moral guidelines are opened for future generations. Grigory Ablyazov left an indelible mark on the heart of the Penza region, becoming the founder of local spirituality and culture that continue to inspire descendants to this day.
