Shakhunya People's Folklore and Ethnographic Museum
About museum
On February 22, 2002, the People's Folklore and Ethnographic Museum was founded by Oleg Sergeyevich Kozyrev, an honored cultural worker and local historian, and was awarded the title "People's". The museum's collection comprises more than 10,000 items. Two permanent exhibitions are on display: 'Len-lenok' and 'Peasant Homestead of the late 19th - early 20th century', dedicated to the features of the region's folk culture. Here you can also see household items, chronicles, works by local masters and artisans, as well as examples of oral folk creativity and multi-shaft handloom artistic weaving that has survived to the present day. The exhibitions include thematic displays that allow visitors to learn more about peasant life.
