Satkinsky Local History Museum
About museum
Satkinsky Local History Museum was founded in 1957 and was originally housed in the building of the former Nikolskaya Church. In 1990, after the building was returned to the faithful, the museum was moved to the building of the former Church of the Life-Giving Trinity, which was built in 1785 and rebuilt in the 1930s. Today the museum has more than 25,000 exhibits and is visited by over 5,500 people a year. It features permanent exhibitions of the "Nature" and "History" departments, about 10 exhibitions from the museum's collections, private collections and other museums. These exhibitions are accompanied by master classes, meetings with masters of decorative and applied arts, artists, veterans and other events. In addition, an annual scientific local history conference is held, printed materials are published, innovative projects are implemented, genealogical inquiries and competitions are carried out, as well as excursions around the town and to sites of historical and cultural heritage of the district and region.
