Volkov-Yusupov Palace Museum
About museum
Volkov-Yusupov Palace Museum is one of the oldest civilian buildings preserved in the center of Moscow. It was restored in 2009, and some of its interiors have survived to this day. The Yusupov family has been known in Russia since the 16th century. Each head of the family had only one son, so the family's fortune was not divided among heirs. At one time the family owned many palaces, estates and other properties. In Moscow there were the famous Chambers of Prince Yusupov on Bolshoy Kharitonyevsky Lane. They were given by Peter II to Grigory Yusupov. In the 20th century the palace was nationalized, and for a long time it housed the presidium of VASKHNIL (the All‑Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences). In 2010 the palace was restored and opened to visitors. Tours, concerts, exhibitions and much more are held here. Visitors can take part in themed programs such as 'The Curse of the Yusupov Family' or 'Moscow of Ivan the Terrible'.
