Museum of the History of Photography
About museum
The Museum of the History of Photography (MIF) was founded on August 18, 2003 in Saint Petersburg at the initiative of private individuals and public organizations. The MIF collection was formed from several private collections with diverse interests, notably the extensive collection of V. V. Platonov. The museum building includes four halls of permanent exhibitions, a gallery for temporary exhibitions, a collection depository, and a library. The photography department of the Albertina Museum in Vienna served as a prototype for MIF, and its predecessor was an expanded exhibition of V. V. Platonov's collection at the N. Roerich Art School.
