Theatre Costume Museum
About museum
In 2005 the Theatre Costume Museum of the Kostroma State Drama Theatre named after A. N. Ostrovsky was established. The museum was created based on a collection of historical theatrical costumes spanning more than two centuries. The theatre's collection comprises over 12,000 items. Particular attention is paid to costumes made from brocade, velvet, taffeta, shtof and other fabrics. In 2005 V. V. Putin visited the museum, and in 2006 an exhibition of historical theatrical costumes was held in Turkey. In 2010 the museum was relocated to the house where Fyodor Volkov was born. The museum has seven halls and more than 100 costumes. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the museum offers themed tours, photoshoots in historical costumes, interactive exhibits for children, and traveling exhibitions.
