About museum
On September 24, 2005, the Museum of Contemporary History was opened in Kizlyar. It features 12 halls in the main building and 3 halls in an additional building. The museum's exhibits present the postwar period and show how Kizlyar transformed from a provincial town into a city with highly developed industry and modern infrastructure. The museum highlights honored citizens of the city who contributed to its development and actively cooperates with educational institutions. On May 9, 2008, a conference hall was opened, and at the end of 2007 the museum acquired a heraldic collection consisting of copies of awards. Today the Museum of Contemporary History offers not only engaging exhibitions but also serves as a venue for cultural and educational events. The museum's collection comprises more than 5,000 items and is continuously expanding.
