Museum of History and Archaeology of Nadym
About museum
On April 29, 1988, the Nadym branch of the Tyumen Museum of Fine Arts was established. On April 7, 1989, the city exhibition hall was opened. The museum has two permanent exhibitions: 'New Nadym' and 'Nadym Settlement'. The first tells about the early stages of the city's history, which emerged in 1949 thanks to a railway station, the preservation of the Salekhard–Igarka communication line, and the oil and gas complex. The exhibition features rare photographs, items from the Stalin era, and household objects. The second exhibition presents the archaeological site. In 2002 the exhibition hall 'History of the City's Construction' was opened. The room recreates the atmosphere of the Komsomol youth construction projects of the 1970s–1980s. Attention is also paid to the history of all trusts involved in the construction of the city and the gas pipeline.
