Museum of Children's Book Dolls 'Wonderland'
About museum
The Museum of Dolls and Children's Books has been operating in the Literary Quarter since October 31, 1994. It hosts exhibitions of dolls and toys, as well as exhibitions dedicated to children's literature (special attention is paid to Ural writers and poets). The themes of the doll exhibitions are very diverse: Russian toys, dolls portraying literary characters, designer and collectible dolls, theatrical puppets, toys from the Soviet period, dolls of the peoples of the world, etc. Children's literature is represented by books by Ural writers, 19th-century books, the 'golden fund' of the Soviet era, books about the Great Patriotic War, children's periodicals, and so on. The museum possesses an excellent collection of books and magazines (including rare editions), as well as an interesting collection of dolls and toys, many of which were donated to the museum by grateful visitors. For the second decade the museum has been cooperating with toy collector E. Lisina, who organized the Ural Association of Doll Artists in 2003 and is its president. The museum has developed an educational and outreach program for conducting tours, lessons, matinées and holiday events. For young children there are performances in the museum's puppet theater 'Buratino'.
