S.T. Konenkov Sculpture Museum
About museum
Today the museum houses more than 300 works by S. T. Konenkov, including numerous sculptures in bronze, marble, and wood. Various events are held at the museum, including exhibitions. The Sergey Timofeyevich Konenkov Sculpture Museum is a tribute to the fine and original artist known worldwide. It was opened in Smolensk on April 30, 1973, since Konenkov was born here, in the village of Karakovichi. The museum's collection comprises over 300 works by the sculptor, including sculptures in bronze, marble, and wood. They were transferred from the Ministries of Culture of the RSFSR and the USSR, from the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Volgograd Art Museum, as well as from the museums of Tyumen, Samara, Tver, Krasnodar, and from private collections. Exhibitions, lectures, and concerts are held here, and the place has become an expression of the creative legacy of this poetic artist.
