Aleksey Mikhailovich Mametyev – participant of the Great Patriotic War, retired lieutenant colonel. Recipient of the Chelyabinsk Region State Prize in the field of culture and the arts in the "Museum Affairs" category. Aleksey Mikhailovich was born in the village of Fershampenuaz. In 1942, at the age of 19, he volunteered for the front. As part of the 12th Motorized Rifle Brigade and the staff of the 15th Air Army of the Bryansk Front, he took part in the liberation of Bryansk, Orel and Königsberg. For his military service he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd class; the Order of the Red Star; the Order of Honour; two medals 'For Combat Merit'; and medals 'For Impeccable Service'.
 
After his demobilization in 1962, Aleksey Mikhailovich moved to Magnitogorsk, where he worked as a personnel inspector in the party bodies of Magnitogorsk and Nagaybaksky District and was active in public life. He was the initiator and first director of the Nagaybaksky District Historical and Local Lore Museum. With Mametyev's participation the district art gallery in the village of Fershampenuaz and local history museums in the village of Paris and the settlement of Ostrolensky were established. Thanks to his active civic stance, in 2000 the Nagaybaks were granted state recognition as a small-numbered indigenous people. Aleksey Mikhailovich passed away in 2005 at the age of 82.
