Alexander Mikhailovich Ivanov was a local historian, a teacher of history and geography, and the founder of the Gusev Museum. Alexander Mikhailovich Ivanov was born on September 5, 1930, in Leningrad, but from 1958 he lived and worked in the town of Gusev in the Kaliningrad region. By profession he was a teacher of history and geography, but by vocation a local historian. His works were primarily aimed at the residents of Gusev, for whom he sought to reveal the rich history of their town. Ivanov believed that to love your town means to know its past.
He devoted his life to studying and preserving the history of Gusev. The result of his tireless efforts was the creation of the Gusev Museum. The museum has a permanent exhibition dedicated to Alexander Mikhailovich Ivanov. It displays his personal belongings, works, photographs and documents, many of which were made by him personally. For example, the handmade map of the town showing monuments of history and culture is a vivid testament to his diligence and dedication to his work.
