About museum
In 1999, the memorial complex 'Homeland of Mikhail Sespel' was solemnly opened in the village of Sespel in the Kanashsky District of the Chuvash Republic, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the classic of Chuvash poetry. It includes a branch of the Chuvash National Museum, a library, a park, a cultural center, and an alley of those who died in the Great Patriotic War. Mikhail Sespel was a poet, statesman and public figure, a representative of the new Chuvash poetry, whose pseudonym translates as 'snowdrop'. In his short life he created works that entered the golden treasury of Chuvash literature, and his poems have been translated into 55 languages. The museum's exhibition introduces visitors to Mikhail Sespel's literary, revolutionary and labor activities, as well as to the sources of his poetic inspiration.
