Konstantin Vasilyevich Ivanov – a Chuvash poet, a classic of Chuvash literature. He was born into a peasant family of the Chuvash clan Partta. In 1902, after finishing village school, he continued his education at the Belebey city school, and then in the preparatory class of the Simbirsk Chuvash teachers' school. During his studies Ivanov showed great interest in literature, studied works by Russian and foreign classics, and was also passionate about painting and sculpture.
In 1907–1908 his tales, ballads and the poem "Narspi" were published; the poem is considered the most accomplished of all his poetic works. It tells of the tragic love of the poor man Setner for the girl Narspi, the daughter of wealthy parents. In 1914, suffering from tuberculosis, Konstantin Ivanov returned to his native village, where he died on March 13, 1915 at the age of 24. His memory is commemorated in the names of streets and squares in Cheboksary, as well as in the Chuvash State Academic Drama Theatre, which bears his name.
