In 1923, Majit Gafuri was given the house by decision of the Bashkir Central Executive Committee in connection with his being awarded the title of People's Poet of Bashkiria. He lived in it for 11 years, and in 1948 the memorial house-museum was opened. It consists of 7 halls, which contain documentary exhibitions, authentic items and more than 2,000 exhibits. The restored memorial interior helps to feel the atmosphere and the time in which the poet lived. In the museum one can see Majit Gafuri not only as a poet, but also as a remarkable person — a father, husband, friend. Overall, the museum allows one to understand his life and work.
