Zainab Abdullovna Biisheva was a Bashkir prose writer, poet, playwright, translator, People's Writer of the Bashkir ASSR, and a laureate of the Salavat Yulaev Republican Prize. She was born on January 2, 1908, in the village of Tuyembetovo in the Orenburg Governorate. Her childhood was difficult; she was orphaned early.

Biisheva received her education late; in 1924 she completed four grades of school. Then she studied in the preparatory courses of the Bashkir Pedagogical College in Orenburg. She worked as a teacher, as an editor of the magazine "Pioner", at Bashgosizdat (the Bashkir State Publishing House), and on the radio.

In 1930 she published her first children's story, "The Boy-Partisan", and in 1942 — her first book. She worked for a long and productive time as a translator. She translated into Bashkir the works of A. P. Gaidar, S. T. Aksakov, N. V. Gogol, I. S. Turgenev, L. N. Tolstoy, A. P. Chekhov, A. M. Gorky, and others. For the trilogy "Toward the Light" she received the Salavat Yulaev Prize. Zainab Abdullovna Biisheva died on August 24, 1996, in Ufa.
