Literary and Musical Museum of the City of Michurinsk
About museum
In 1995, the Literary and Musical Museum was opened in the house of the Golitsyn princes located in Michurinsk. The house was built at the request of Prince N. B. Golitsyn, a hero of the Patriotic War of 1812, a writer and translator of poetry, and a musician who played the cello. Already in the 19th century it became the cultural center of Kozlov, and today it attracts more than 11,000 visitors a year. The museum displays exhibits donated by the Deminykh-Kozhevnikov, Shmerling, Kharkov, Golikov, and Bakharev families, as well as works by A. V. Strygin and B. I. Ileshin. Visitors can explore halls dedicated to Pushkin and the Tambov region, as well as the magical world of fairy tales and classical literature. The museum offers interesting and informative tours, traveling exhibitions for all ages, and lectures on the city's finest literary and musical traditions.
