Nina Ivanovna Beregovaya was a local historian, the founder and director of the Spassk Local History Museum. Nina Ivanovna was born in the city of Spassk-Dalny into a family of World War II veterans. She graduated from Secondary School No. 1 and then earned a degree in philology from the Far Eastern Federal University. She worked as a teacher for some time, but her passion for the history of her native region led her to the Spassk-Dalny Department of Culture, where she actively participated in the creation of the local history museum. In 1986 Nina Ivanovna became the director of the Spassk Local History Museum, and in 1996 a new building was constructed for the museum, housing exhibition halls dedicated to the history of settlement of the Spassk lands, the participation of Spassk residents in the Great Patriotic War, and the nature of Primorsky Krai.
Nina Ivanovna's work was recognized with numerous awards: diplomas, certificates, letters of appreciation, as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation's badge "For Achievements in Culture" and the title "Honorary Citizen of the city of Spassk-Dalny." After the untimely death of Nina Ivanovna Beregovaya, the Spassk Local History Museum was renamed in her honor.
