Krasnogorsk Branch of the Victory Museum
About museum
The Krasnogorsk Branch of the Victory Museum was established in 1985 at the initiative of the Central Committees of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Socialist Unity Party of Germany as a Memorial Museum of German Anti‑Fascists. In 2004 it was reorganized as a branch of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. It is currently the only military-historical museum in Russia that covers the topics of prisoners of war and the history of the anti-fascist movement among foreign POWs during the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition presents various aspects of Russian-German relations in the 20th century, including World War I prisoners of war, the revolution, economic relations in the 1920s–30s, and the Resistance movement against the Nazi dictatorship. The branch's collection includes more than 47,000 items, including uniforms and insignia, equipment, military and civilian household items, awards, philately, notaphily (banknote collecting), numismatics, phaleristics, film, audio and video materials, painting, graphics, and sculpture.
