Konstantin Vasilyev Museum of Slavic Culture
About museum
From 1998 to 2002 the Konstantin Vasilyev Museum served as a place to engage with the painter's works and to host creative evenings for musicians, actors and poets. In 2009 the museum was subjected to raider attacks; after the third attack the museum building burned down and most of Konstantin Vasilyev's paintings were transferred to Kazan. In Moscow, on the site of the former museum, the Konstantin Vasilyev Museum of Slavic Culture was opened in 2012. Here, in two halls originals and copies of K. Vasilyev's works are exhibited, and in three other halls canvases by contemporary painters devoted to the history of the Slavic people are displayed. The museum also presents unique stone works by Viktor Goncharov, an ethnographic collection of household items, clothing and musical instruments. Interactive tours for children are held at the museum, and in the museum's teremok — holiday, educational and play programs and quests.
