On June 10, 2014, in Irkutsk at 33 Timiryazeva Street, the Museum of Fire Protection of the City and the Irkutsk Region was officially opened. It is located in the building of the fire depot and fire tower, built in 1901 to a design by architect Kuznetsov. By a Presidential Decree of the Russian Federation from 1995 and an Order of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation from 2012, this building was recognized as a monument of urban planning and architecture of the city and is protected as an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. The museum features halls: "History of Fire Protection of Irkutsk and Eastern Siberia (within the borders of Irkutsk Region)", "Fire Equipment. Fire‑Technical Equipment. Operational Work", "Fire Equipment. History and Modernity", "Fire Protection of the Irkutsk Region. History and Modernity", as well as the fire tower. The collection includes fire engines, motorcycles and horse‑drawn fire apparatus, manual fire pumps and fire‑technical equipment. Visiting the museum allows visitors to gain interesting knowledge about the fire protection of Irkutsk and the Irkutsk Region.
