House-Museum of I. S. Sokolov-Mikitov
About museum
The museum is located in the village of Poldnevo in the Ugra District of the Smolensk Region and is presented as a gallery with large photographs of the nature described in Sokolov-Mikitov's works. You can also see materials recounting the writer's family and his period of study at the Alexandrov Real School in Smolensk. The house contains a library with a reading room, two guest rooms, a literary parlor, an exhibition hall, and the writer's study, which is the heart of the exhibition. The writer's personal belongings and the literary works of I. S. Sokolov-Mikitov are on display here, as well as his connections with such writers as A. Remizov, I. Bunin, A. Kuprin, A. Tolstoy, A. Tvardovsky, and N. Rylenkov. At the center of all these interiors is a portrait of the writer.
