Iskitim City Historical and Art Museum

On November 4, 1977 the Iskitim City Historical and Art Museum was opened, which comprises two departments: historical and art. It houses 26 collections and more than 20,000 exhibits representing paleontological and archaeological collections, photo and written sources, Siberian icon painting, painting, graphics, sculpture and other works by Siberian craftsmen. The museum presents the material culture of Siberian peasantry and the local population of the 20th century, as well as the flora and fauna of Siberia. There is a literary and art hall dedicated to V. M. Shukshin. The museum holds more than fifty exhibitions a year, and on the first floor there is an art salon where paintings, graphic works and other artworks, as well as souvenirs, can be purchased.
