Krasnoslobodsk Local History Museum
About museum
In 1919, in the building of the girls' gymnasium (the old RDK building), a People's House was opened, and one of the rooms was allocated for a museum. All school local history collections were combined in it. Sergei Ivanovich Ponomaryov, a natural science teacher at the second level of School No. 4, voluntarily took on the management of the museum. From November 1925, the museum work was taken over by Alexander Nikolaevich Izosimov, a teacher at the Zhegalovskaya primary school. In 2010 the museum moved to the Palace of Culture. It has four departments: nature, the pre-revolutionary past, military glory (including internationalist soldiers and A. S. Shindyaev), and the Soviet past. The museum contains more than 15,000 exhibits, including numismatics, an archaeological collection, an ethnographic collection, and a collection of stuffed animals and birds. The museum holds art and decorative-applied arts exhibitions in the exhibition hall, as well as temporary exhibitions organized by the museum's departments.
