Maslenitsa in Volgograd

Maslenitsa begins in Russia on February 24; the week dedicated to seeing off winter will last until March 2. In Volgograd and its surroundings, winter will be sent off with great fanfare.

Central Park of Culture and Recreation.
A real celebration will unfold in the park.
On March 1 and 2 a fair will take place near the main stage.
Visitors can enjoy blini, hot tea and the traditional burning of the Maslenitsa effigy.

Local History Museum.
February 22, 24, 26 at 12:00
February 25 at 12:00 and 16:00 thematic events will be held: "Maslenitsa — Sugary Lips", "The Russian Way and by Custom".
In an interactive journey, museum visitors will learn about Maslenitsa traditions and customs and discover old folk recipes for blini.

Old Sarepta Museum-Reserve
On February 25 at 16:00 an unusual concert "Maslenitsa Festivities" will take place in the kirche (church) of the museum-reserve! You will hear music performed on three instruments: the organ, piano and balalaika! Russian folk melodies in modern arrangements and arrangements of folk songs by the German composer Johannes Brahms will be performed for guests.

Animation studio "Multistoriya"
On March 1 from 15:00 to 18:00 the studio will host the quest-game "Oh, Maslenitsa!". Guests will also be able to take part in the filming of a festive cartoon, contests, games and be treated to blini.
Recommended age: 5–12 years
Program cost: 1,390 RUB per child; for bookings of 2 or more children — 1,190 RUB per child. For groups of 20 or more children — 1,090 RUB per child (with treats), 890 RUB (without treats; you may bring your own). For groups it is possible to choose another date and time.

Zhivinka.
Zhivinka is a peasant homestead located in the Zakutsky khutor.
As part of the event there will be a tour of a traditional peasant izba where you will learn how peasants lived several centuries ago. After the tour you will take part in a master class on making a protective Maslenitsa doll.
You will meet friendly little goats that can be fed.
And of course there will be merry round dances and traditional games. Afterwards you will be treated to aromatic samovar tea and pies.

Tourist complex "River and Sand".
March 2 at 11:00.
You can expect a bright show program, workshops for children and prize draws. Guests will be served blini. You can take beautiful souvenir photos at a special photo zone. The climax of the celebration will be the burning of the Maslenitsa effigy.
