CK19 Cultural Center presents a solo exhibition by Elena Tretyakova 'THE TELL-TALE HEART' (based on the eponymous story by Edgar Allan Poe). The exhibition includes around 50 works.\r\n\r\n'There are rare artists who don't need a curator. ... These authors possess a special ability to think holistically and structurally, and are able to simultaneously hold all the categories of a project in mind. Elena Tretyakova is precisely such an artist. ... In her work Lena creates unexpected and paradoxical things. For example, in the project created especially for CK19, thoughtful original graphics continue in an anthropological performance, the outcome of which is unknown to both the artist and the performer. ... The exhibition space is transformable. ... Playing with contemporary and traditional media, searching for alternative meanings of the source text are the artist's tools in creating the project 'The Tell-Tale Heart'. This is a highly anticipated event,' shares CK19 curator Anastasia Ermish.\r\n\r\n'The Tell-Tale Heart' is one of E. A. Poe's most famous 'dark' stories (the talented American Romantic writer, a forerunner of symbolism and fantastic realism), published in 1843. Literary scholars argue that Poe's work had a notable influence on many major writers, including F. M. Dostoevsky. Today 'The Tell-Tale Heart' is recognized as a classic of the Gothic genre and is often adapted for film.\r\n\r\n'The main theme of my work is the human being in a borderline state, in a state of the Tragic. When the world becomes "intimately close" and all feelings are laid bare, all that is insignificant recedes, leaving only existence itself and its fundamental questions. ... My project 'The Tell-Tale Heart' is about the fact that no evil goes unpunished, and that the heaviest retribution is the torments of conscience,' shares Elena Tretyakova.\r\n\r\nThe exhibition features watercolor works and an artist's video.\r\n\r\nThe exhibition runs until February 25, 2024.
