Historical-ethnographic and architectural museum-reserve 'Old Sarepta'
About museum
'Old Sarepta' is a unique architectural ensemble reflecting the style of Saxon Baroque. It comprises 26 buildings of the 18th–19th centuries that have survived to the present day. The complex was built by Herrnhuter (Moravian) colonists. Today the museum-reserve is an important cultural, tourist and research center of Volgograd and the region. It houses the largest German library in the region, as well as a hotel. The church building contains the only pipe organ in the region with live sound and no electronic amplification. On the museum grounds there is a symbolic sculpture of balance and concord, 'Equilibrio' — a gift from the twin city of Cologne. Thus, 'Old Sarepta' is a genuine monument of history and architecture.
