About museum
In a one-story building with an area of 342.6 sq. m there are six halls: geological; flora and fauna; specially protected natural territories of the Russian Federation, Zabaykalsky Krai and the Agin Buryat Okrug; as well as a hall for ecological education and upbringing. In addition, there is a conference hall and staff offices. The museum exhibits various items, ranging from rocks and minerals, paleontological and archaeological collections, insects, stuffed birds and fish, herbaria of rare and medicinal plants, stamps and badges depicting plants and animals, scientific books on ecology, Red Books, photographs of reserves, protected areas, national parks, natural monuments, etc. The display cases feature scientific works on the reserves of Russia and Zabaykalsky Krai, on Alkhanay National Park and other materials. The museum regularly hosts mass environmental protection events: ecological weeks and campaigns such as Bird Days, Earth Day, Forest Day, Ecologist's Day, Park March, Children's Day and others.
