Stupino Local History Museum
About museum
In 1991 a city historical and local history museum was opened in the town of Stupino, which quickly became popular with locals and visitors. On four floors visitors can see exhibitions dedicated to the region's history from ancient times, as well as displays of prominent public figures, photographs of the city's history, wartime events and the nature of the Stupino district. The museum is known beyond the Moscow Region thanks to the annual scientific-practical conference 'The Oka — a Connecting Thread: Archaeology of the Middle Oka Basin'. Currently the museum offers guided lecture programs for people of different ages, as well as off-site excursions to the Holy Trinity Belopesotsky Monastery, Staraya Kashira and around the town of Stupino. The museum is developing a project for a new exhibition 'Country, City, Person', intended to present the image of the Soviet industrial city that emerged thanks to the enthusiasm of its people.
