Podosinovsky Local History Museum
About museum
The beginning of the Podosinovsky Local History Museum's collection was formed from items collected by the district local history museum on a voluntary basis in the 1970s. On January 1, 1990, the museum was officially opened as part of the Kirov State United Historical-Architectural and Literary Museum. At the end of 1997 the museum became an independent cultural institution of the Administration of the Podosinovsky District, and in 2001 it was registered as a legal entity. Today the museum's collection contains more than 6,000 items, including household and ethnographic objects, tools for wood processing, hand weaving, pottery, cooperage and pimokat production of the 19th–20th centuries. The museum hosts local history readings, tours and expeditions, as well as permanent exhibitions: settlement of the region, a peasant izba (log house), the history of medicine, the Podosinovskaya pier and transport routes in the Russian North. In 2008 the Podosinovsky Society for the Study of the Native Land was established.
