About museum
The Kuzbass State Regional Museum is the leading and oldest museum in Kuzbass. It was opened in 1929 and was granted regional museum status in 1943. Today it serves as a flagship institution of the region, gathering objective and reliable information about the area's nature and history. The museum presents the exhibition "Kuzbass — a Unique Natural Monument", which showcases the geology, paleontology, flora, and fauna of the Kemerovo Region. Visitors can also see unique finds from the museum's expedition team, as well as the stages of coal formation in the Kuznetsk Coal Basin. For the first time in Russia, a laboratory for the study of Siberian dinosaurs was incorporated into a museum exhibition. The museum holds a license to use subsoil resources for collecting mineralogical, paleontological, and other geological collection materials, making it the only museum in Russia engaged in dinosaur excavations.
