The Novokuznetsk Art Museum was opened in 1961 and is the first fine arts museum in Kuzbass. Its collection includes works of painting, graphic art, sculpture and decorative-applied arts from the 19th to the early 21st century. Special attention is given to the collection of Siberian artists, which includes icons from the 18th to the early 20th centuries and contemporary art by Siberian artists. The museum's total area is 2,891 sq. m, of which 851 sq. m is exhibition space and 259 sq. m is storage. The museum hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as group and solo exhibitions of contemporary artists. The museum regularly carries out an active exhibition program, offering visitors the opportunity to see works from its own collections as well as from the collections of other museums and organizations.
