Galaktion Stepanovich Klepikov was a merchant, patron and philanthropist from Surgut. He was born into the family of a Surgut Cossack. Until 1881 he served in the Cossack troops, but after their disbandment he focused on trade.
Klepikov engaged in intermediary trade between the local population and the merchants of Tobolsk and the Urals. Over time he moved on to independent commercial operations, participating annually in the Irbit Fair. He traded in furs, fish, haberdashery goods, groceries, textiles and metal products. By the end of the 19th century the Klepikov family had become one of the wealthiest in Surgut.
Klepikov was also active in Surgut's public life. He held the positions of elder and honorary magistrate, was a member of the Tobolsk Provincial Museum and a trustee of the local boys' school. His merits were recognized with the gold medal "For Diligence". He built a merchant house on Prosveshcheniya Street, which today is a branch of the local history museum. Galaktion Stepanovich Klepikov died on July 16, 1915.
