The Republic's Museum of Theatre Arts was opened in 1994 in a two-story mansion that belonged to the architect Pavel Pavlovich Schmidt. It became the first state museum of theatrical art in the North Caucasus and contributed to the development of theatrical arts in the republic. The museum's grounds include five state theatres as well as numerous talented artists. The museum houses unique exhibits from the pre-revolutionary, Soviet, and contemporary periods, as well as items related to well-known figures such as V. Tkhapsaev, N. Salamov, V. Karginova, V. Khugaeva, V. Vershinin, D. Bilaonova, E. Tsallagova, Yu. Batsazov, E. Kulaev, V. Ramonov, E. Zubina, and others. The museum's holdings comprise more than 16,300 items.
